Charitable Work and Fundraising

In the past, the PCC, acting at the request of the congregation, have made donations to local charities.

Previous chosen charities include:

Wycombe Homeless Connection www.wwns.org.uk
Iain Rennie Hospice at Home www.irhh.org
Helen and Douglas House  www.helenanddouglas.org.uk
Street Dreams  www.street-dreams.org.uk

Alzheimer's  www.alzheimers.org.uk

We also have strong links with Saunderton Lodge to which we send all our Harvest gifts and a huge collection of toys in the run up to Christmas. This long-established and hard-working facility run by Wycombe District Council is where young families can call home until they get back on their feet.

We also support the One Can Trust foodbank, who provide food parcels to people and families in need in High Wycombe and across South Buckinghamshire - http://onecantrust.org.uk/

St James Church Downley has also supported the Disaster Emergency Committee by contributing to their Indonesia Tsunami Appeal - https://donation.dec.org.uk/indonesia#/

The Phoenix Team
We are a small but enthusiastic fundraising team. Our aim is to raise money for the church, but in doing so, we enjoy ourselves as well!

We have yearly events, such as the Harvest Supper on the first Saturday evening in October, plus occasional events like quiz evenings. All such events raise valuable funds for the church and are in addition to the Collection taken during worship.

With the emphasis firmly on enjoyment and fellowship rather than fundraising, we have also run coach trips.

Do YOU have a good idea through which we could raise funds or have fun?
